Annual Compliance Refresher
Privacy and Secure Work Habits
One unlocked screen at Main Street or Riverside can expose dozens of patients. Your habits are the first line of privacy protection.
Use only authorized systems and role-based access, verify recipients and lock screens. Report suspected privacy incidents to the Privacy Officer immediately; do not investigate privately.
- Lock your workstation (Windows + L) every time you step away, even for a minute.
- Use only your own EHR login; never share passwords or badges.
- Print to the front desk printer only when needed and pick it up right away.
- Shred paper with patient information in the locked gray bins, never the regular trash.
- Open a chart only when you are caring for that patient or doing your assigned task.
Sort it out
Sort each habit: is it okay or not okay at Clearview?
Drag each card into the right group — or tap a card, then tap a group.
Important
If you think patient information was seen by the wrong person, tell Dana Whitfield or the Privacy Officer the same day. Early reports limit the harm.
Knowledge check
You need to walk to the supply room for two minutes. What should you do with your workstation?
